eHouse 36kV for BESS in Scotland

Fife (Scotland)

Description

The Little Raith Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) is a significant project located in Fife, Scotland.

We designed, constructed, and carried out the remote assistance of a MV eHouse, STC-Box, equipped with switchgear ATR 36kV 1250A 25kA(1s), DC systems 110, AC/D UPS, LV switchboard, weather station, 3G antenna, patch panel, auxiliary equipment.
The whole system is supervised and controlled with a SCADA that enables real-time, efficient monitoring of the plant for optimal performance.
Plant technical features:

  • Capacity: Little Raith BESS has a capacity of 49.5 MW and can store 99 MWh of energy.
  • Technology: it uses Tesla’s Megapack 2XL system, which is a rechargeable lithium-ion battery system.
  • Purpose: the project provides critical balancing services to the GB electricity grid network while enabling the replacement of fossil fuels with renewable energy. By storing excess power from wind farms, it contributes to a more efficient and reliable renewable energy grid.
  • Environmental Impact: Harmony Energy aims to enhance biodiversity across its sites, emphasizing sustainability and a greener future.
Overall, the Little Raith BESS plays a crucial role in transitioning to cleanenergy technologies and reducing carbon emissions.
