Container ISO 2×2.5MVA 34.5kV for industry application

Latin America

Description

We have designed, manufactured and supplied a plug-in compact substation destined to a food packaging factory, designed for Latin America.

Technical features: the cabin is equipped with MV switchgear 34.5kV 630A 20kA, LV switchboard Euro-SDS, n. 2 transformers 2500kVA, firefighting system, auxiliary equipment. It is a monoblock structure, suitable for sea transport, making it an ideal solution for projects in remote locations or requiring streamlined logistics.
Our engineers have studied a solution capable of delivering high nominal current output on the LV side of the transformer, providing 3.492A to meet the factory's demanding energy requirements.
The substation features an Automatic Transfer System (ATS) mounted on the LV control switchboard, enabling:

  • N. 2 MV incoming lines that operate alternatively.
  • N. 2 LV outgoing feeders, which can operate simultaneously (with the tie-breaker closed) or independently (with the tie-breaker open), depending on the plant's requirements.
The system is designed to operate under normal conditions at 50% capacity, with one MV incoming line and one LV outgoing feeder active. Moreover, this configuration ensures 100% availability as a backup solution. In the event one MV incoming line fails, the system automatically switches to the other, and the tie-breaker closes. Similarly, if one LV outgoing feeder fails, the system switches to the other and closes the tie-breaker.
The transformer connection system and busbars were entirely designed and manufactured in-house. Considering the high temperatures at the destination site, the substation features:
  • Spacious ventilation rooms to enhance cooling efficiency.
  • N. 4 forced ventilation extractors in each transformer room for heat dissipation to the outside, with activation steps based on temperature levels.

The project includes n. 4 photovoltaic plants, with a total of 10MWp, located in 4 sites, situated in 3 different provinces of the Cuban Republic. It is part of the implementation plan of the Cuban economic development program, with the aim to reach a total of 700MW photovoltaic power supply by 2030.
